Do your kids dress better than you?

Do you ever think to yourself sometimes that your kids dress better than you do?  Because, I do!

Granted, I do pick out and dress my 22 month old.  Today I put him a cute pair of light sandy brown khaki pants and a red and white horizontal striped Mickey Mouse polo shirt.  He was so adorable.  And this was to go to a playgroup.

Oldest DS picks out his own clothes each day and has for a while now.  Usually, he does really well.  The other day not so much.  He came out of his room with dark navy khaki type pants and a dark brown sweater.  I was like, “No, try again!  Go get a light blue shirt.  It would match better.”  And it did.  He looked very handsome.  I do like how he tries.

My kids have such nice clothes and I guess it is because I am a wee bit picky.  We do have a few hand-me-downs but when sorting and picking through them I make sure that they are not heavily worn or have any stains on them.  Basically, the clothes have to look like they can pass for “new” clothes.  Yes, I am that picky.  When clothes shopping in stores I will even grab the shirt behind the one in front or even a couple behind to get to one that may have been tried on less.  And of course, I inspect that piece of clothing with a fine tooth comb looking for loose threads, rips, stains, etc.

One day I was getting dressed myself and I took a look at what I was wearing: comfy yoga pants and a shirt that I bought about 5 years ago.  It’s not that all of my clothes are old – I just dislike clothes shopping.  I do get new clothes when we go to the city but that usually happens once a year (if that sometimes).  And it also depends on budget.  Any new clothes I do buy for myself I wear constantly and they start to get that really well worn look.

So, when I do clothes shop, I do it in a fit of fury.  Ok, sometimes I do enjoy it but really I detest it.  LOL!  I grab and grab and grab until I cannot fit anymore in my arms.  I like to get it over and done with.  But yet, shopping for my boys, I can do that forever!  Sometimes I wish they were girls because girls clothes are just so darn cute and sweet!  Girls get the better selection that is for sure.  But the outfits my boys do have sure do make them look like sweet little boys.

Yes, my boys are better dressers than me and I am OK with it.

That’s awkward when someone notice that your daughter or son dress better than you. But I think there’s no worry for it cause you’re the one who bought their dress, means you really have a taste in picking. It just happen I think. My opinion. :)

My kids have always dressed better than me! That was OK for a while, but I think it’s gone a little too far. Time to change things up, and dump some of my old, ratty stand-bys! Although I couldn’t ever part with my yoga pants ;)
