Honey Do List

Pen Calendar To Do Checklist Honey

Have you ever made a ‘honey do list’ for your spouse?

Last night I mentioned to my husband that he should finally shred all of our receipts and other papers with important information on them.

I know, I could do it myself but I would prefer he do it so he can decide what is important to keep and what isn’t.  Me, I would just shred all of it without even thinking.  I don’t like clutter.  In past I have been know to throw away papers that were apparently important to him and he got seriously p!ssed off at me.  So, now I leave it up to him.

And the pile of receipts and papers is HUGE!  The fancy basket and boxes I have them all in are overflowing over the top.  It was driving me nuts every time I walked by it so much so that I moved the basket and boxes downstairs so I wouldn’t have to see it all of the time.

So, I mention again this morning that he should shred the papers as I was headed out the door with youngest DS for a play date. I also threw in that maybe he could clean the bathroom downstairs as well.  Really, it’s just cleaning the toilet and sink as we don’t use the shower and haven’t for 6 years because it leaks all over the floor.  It’s not like it’s rocket science and takes any time.  Plus, I clean the bathroom up here, tub, sink, toilet, walls, and all, all the time.  So, he can be in charge of the basement bathroom for once.

I returned about two hours later from the play date and this is the conversation hubby and I had.

I ask, “did you shred the receipts?”

“No,” he replied.

“Did you clean the bathroom downstairs?”

“No,” he replied.

“Well, what did you do while we were out?”

“I was a bum and laid on the couch.”

Hmm, that sums it up!

I love your conversation with your honey. Do you ever notice though, that as he was honest with his response about being a bum and laying on the couch, he has NO guilt whatsoever! Hmmmm Why is it that our expectations of ourselves go way beyond normal and we spend how much of our time in guilt/worry. Thinking that we should be more than what we are, that we should be doing more that what we already are. Seriously, there are days where I really wish I had that carefree, who give a crap attitude of most men. lol

LOL! I wish I could feel as guilt free as they do. I wrote this back in Oct and he is still putting things off. For example, there has been a load of laundry I have been purposely leaving alone to see if he will fold it, NOPE. And yesterday I went out visiting and I came home and he didn’t even unload the dishwasher. Men!
