I received a Today I Ate a Rainbow! kit in the mail.

I happened to get a kit because the creator, Kia Robertson, was giving one away on Twitter and I happened to tweet her back at the right time.

The idea behind the kit is to teach kids, as well as their parents, to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.  As fruits and veggies come in a bunch of different colours the kit encourages everyone to try to “eat a rainbow” a day.

The kit comes packed with a Today I Ate a Rainbow! chart, coloured magnets, achievement magnets, colour-coded shopping lists, The Rainbow Bunch book and a Rainbow bookmark!

After reading The Rainbow Bunch book, which is cute and greatly informative, as well as the instructions for the kit, I immediately set up the chart on our fridge.

Today I ate a Rainbow Kit

As soon as my oldest came home from school for lunch he saw the chart. I explained to him how it all worked and he was excited to give it a try.  He noticed however, that his little brother already had a purple circle under the purple column.  So, he was trying to think up ways to eat more colours than his little brother.

This could get interesting!

So far today, my little man has eaten orange, green and purple while our oldest has had orange and purple!

The other day my oldest said to me, “Mom, I just want to eat a rainbow today!”
Too cute.  He is so excited about it all.

I am really looking forward to getting my sons to eat a variety of coloured fruits and vegetables.  Who knows?  It may help me out too!
