Week Fifteen of Project Happy: My Brother is Coming Home!
My brother is coming home!
He is on his way right now. Well, not right now but this morning he boarded a flight from Toronto to Thunder Bay. So, he is partly on his way here!
On Monday, he and his best friend will be driving up here! It is approximately 1400 km or 18 hours.
I cannot wait!
I have not seen my brother since September 2010. That was the time I travelled with my youngest son, Little Man, to go meet his uncle for the first time. Travelling with an approximately nine month old child alone was a big feat for me. Especially with my anxiety issues. But I did it! Because I wanted my brother to meet his nephew. It is something I am very proud that I did. And we had a blast.
My brother has not been home since July 2009 when our dad married our step-mom. So, that means my oldest has not seen his uncle in about three years. Big Boy has changed a lot since he was the ring bearer at our dad’s wedding. We do Skype occasionally but that is nothing compared to actually seeing each other in person. I think that my brother will be shocked to see how much Big Boy, as well as, Little Man have grown.
Part of the reason my brother is coming home is to go through the house we grew up in (as our dad and step-mom are almost finished building a new one at the lake) to clean out our childhood belongs.
Plus, he wanted to be here during the month our mom passed to celebrate her life with us.
It is going to be bittersweet to go through the old house and see all of our old memories. I am really going to miss that place. I grew up there. It was the only house I knew before moving in with my boyfriend (now husband).
My grandpa built the house that I grew up in. My dad and his siblings did too. I wish I could move it here and attach it to our house. LOL! It will be a very sad day when a different family starts living in the house my grandpa built with love for my grandma.
We are all so excited to see my brother!
It’s going to be a great week!
