Week Twenty Five of Project Happy
Not only am I trying to live a happier life, I am reading up on it as well.
A couple of weeks ago I finally finished the book The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.
It only took me a couple of weeks – OK – months to read.
I admit it. I am not the greatest when attempting to read non-fiction books. It seems as though it takes me forever to get through them.
But I am extremely glad that I took the time to read this book.
The Happiness Project is fantastic. I recommend that anyone wanting to learn about living your life to the fullest and being happy while doing so, read it. The points Ms. Rubin makes throughout her project are worth examining in your own life.
Gretchen Rubin is a treasure trove of information! Wow, this girl knows her stuff. At points I did get a wee bit overwhelmed by all of the information she was putting forth regarding her research on happiness. It amazed me how deeply she delved into her research and how much “stuff” she knows about well, anything really! She has a passion for learning and reading which is something we have in common. I strive to be a life-long learner and try to learn something new every day.
While flipping through this book it was the first time that I ever wanted to take notes, underline, and highlight sections in a book. I am a librarian by trade and librarians DO NOT mark up books! Instead, I may have dog-eared a few pages. That is a definite no-no in my library (or was I should say since I do not work in one anymore). There were so many passages and quotes in this book that resonated with me. I may have to flip back through the book and compile a collection of them.
After reading this book I wanted to…
Start a Collection
But of what? And where to put it?
This one never happens!
You know Monica’s closet from the TV show Friends? The one she kept locked and had tons of “stuff” in? Those are my closets. Well, not really but they do need organizing.
Go to Bed Early
As if that will ever happen. I am currently on this computer right now and it is 11:03pm. Yeah, go luck with that.
Start a Book Club
I love books. And I love sharing and discussing books. Anyone want to start a book club with me? OK, how about we just get together for some sweet treats? Maybe after stuffing our faces we can talk about books then.
Give Proofs of Love
Now, you will have to read the book if you want to know what this is.
Keep a Gratitude Notebook
I like this idea and think I am going to put it into practice.
Find a Passion
I believe I have found one of my passions – writing this blog.
By participating in Project Happy these past few months and now by reading The Happiness Project, I think I have a good idea of what needs to be done in order to live a happier life and to actually be happy.
Definitely pick up yourself a copy of The Happiness Project.
You will be happy – pun intended – that you did!
PS – This is not a sponsored post. I read the above mentioned book for my own enjoyment.
