December is here! The holidays are upon us! And so are advent calendars. You know those neat little things that help you count down the days until Christmas? Some advent calendars have you open a new window each day and behind it you will find a cute little treat to enjoy. My boys sure love those ones!

Or maybe you have chosen to do something a little different like I did a few years back.

Whatever way you decide to count down the days until Christmas arrives all that truly matters is that you do it with those you love and that you have fun!

But I have another idea for you. Why don’t you check out this neat little box I received called the 25 Days of Christmas Activity Kit!

Inside the box you will find cards with tons of ideas on how to spread the joy of the holiday season with your family and friends. Each card has a specific task to complete for each one of the 25 days until Christmas.

The best thing is that you get to tailor what activities you want to do on each specific day. But you need to do this a few days before December starts. So grab your calendars (electronic or print) and hop to it.

Make sure that you plan to do the simpler tasks on days that you know you and your family will be busy. For example, my oldest has hockey practices most Tuesday nights. That particular time would not be a good day to make and decorate a gingerbread house. Also, if you are booked to attend a couple holiday parties on two weekends in December, use a free weekend to have a slumber party under the Christmas tree.

The activity kit comes with dated envelopes and all you have to do is place the card you want to do on that particular day inside the envelope.

A few of the activities suggested on some of the cards include:

* Enjoying a gourmet hot chocolate and a winter walk outdoors

* Having a picnic dinner under the Christmas tree

* Spend a day doing some holiday baking

* Select a board game and hold a family game night

* Eat a mini candy cane with lunch today

* And snuggle up to watch a Christmas movie with some popcorn.

My favourite activities out of the whole kit are the ones that encourage families to spread joy and kindness to others during the holiday season. One card that comes to mind is where everyone in the family selects a Secret Santa and they are asked to do acts of kindness for that particular family member all month long. How sweet is that? Another activity is to buy some groceries and deliver them to your local food bank. The holidays can be a rough time for some people and as such not everyone can afford to put food on the table as well as buy gifts for their loved ones. I know that our local food bank would really appreciate any and all donations made during the holiday season.

The 25 Days of Christmas Activity Kit includes: 35 activity cards, 5 blank activity cards (you and your family can customize yourself), as well as 25 dated envelopes (December 1 – 25). This fun and unique activity kit retails for only $20.00 on the Simply Fun Families website.

Start a new family tradition and have a blast counting down the days until Christmas using the 25 Days of Christmas Activity Kit!

I love this idea! This year as we are doing our chocolate Advent calendars I think that there must be a better way to create countdown memories with my family. I will have to look into these.

We are using this for our advent calendar and the kids are LOVING IT. I’ve been sharing what we do on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook each day and the family on Facebook especially love seeing what we’ve been up to. I know we will reuse this year after year!

If I can shake this plague I will get a post up. It feels too late…

Not a fan of too late. :(
