Hockey Tournaments and Sleeping Arrangements

Hockey Tournament Sleeping Arrangements

Since the beginning of January of this year we have been going from one hockey tournament to another.

In order to save a little money for one of the trips (which is a four hour drive one way) the husband decided that he and Big Boy will commute with another parent and his son. Plus, they will share accommodations at one of the local hotels.

The other day Big Boy came home for lunch and proposed an idea to the husband.

This is how the conversation went down.

Big Boy: Dad, the other day I was talking to Trevor* about the hockey tournament and the hotel. He said to me wouldn’t it be funny if the adults slept in one bed and we, the kids, had the other. *giggles*

The Husband: Umm, no! I don’t think so.

Big Boy: But Dad, that’s what The Smith’s* did when they took me to a tournament a few weeks ago.

The Husband: That’s because they are married! That is totally different!

I sure had quite a laugh over this conversation and I had to text my friend (who is Trevor’s mom) to tell her the idea our children came up with for our husbands.

What crazy ideas have your children concocted lately?

Growing up, my brother was on two teams so there was a lot of traveling. Looking back, it would have cost a lot in hotels. Add in the fact my sister had her own team as well and sometimes there was two hotels in a weekend. Sharing with another team mate is a great idea to cut down costs.

So expensive. My jaw dropped when the in-laws (bro and sis) told us how much they spent on hockey one year for their one child. Living mainly on one income we really need to find ways to cut costs.

Don’t you just love the innocence/silliness of kids? I wouldn’t think twice of co-sleeping with another mom though.

Very cute! When we moved into our new home, my daughter somehow thought that the master bedroom suite was for her. Nice try, princess!

That is so funny. I drove my daughter and a few teammates to the airport 2 hours away. I think the girls thought that I was going to share a bed with my daughter and the other two would sleep alone… I don’t think so. I slept on a bed on my own in the other room. I did all the driving. There and back.
