Browsing and Dreaming in Ikea

My trip to Blissdom was broken up into two legs. For the first leg I had to drive eight hours to get to Winnipeg from here. Then, I had to fly two and a half hours to Toronto where the awesome Chevrolet shuttle service picked me up and took me to the hotel in Mississauga.

This time I went into the trip with a plan! Last year I was winging it. I had no idea just how exhausted I would be after the conference. Last year I flew into Winnipeg and tried to do some shopping the same day. Big mistake! After having lunch at the mall food court and browsing through a few stores I began to feel dizzy. I went back to my hotel immediately and slept. I only woke to have supper and went back to sleep. The next day I drove home. The whole eight hours. It was awful.

This year I decided to take some time to myself and I added on an extra night’s stay in Winnipeg before heading home. So, after I flew back into Winnipeg I went straight to the hotel. I ordered room service and RELAXED.

The next day was spent shopping, window shopping and shopping some more. My Visa may have been smoking by the end of the day. What can I say? The boys needed new snow suits since they have grown so much. And I may have bought a few new tops for myself (including a Tommy Hilfiger shirt).

To start off the day I met my best friend from university at the one mall and we had a short but great visit. I finally got to meet her third child, a sweet little boy. After we said our goodbyes I made my way to Petland. Who visits the city and does not stop into Petland? Well, I make sure to go to one every time I can. I love watching all of the animals, even the creepy rodents.

My third stop of the day was to the “new” Ikea store. It’s huge! The first time I visited was two summers ago. Like this time, I was alone and it took me just over an hour to get through the entire store. And I only spent $8.00. This go round I did not spend a thing. I was sure tempted to though. I swear, my next house will be furnished with everything Ikea from furniture to cutlery to bedding. All IKEA, everywhere!

One of my favourite parts of the store is the sustainable home. It is 592 sq ft of pure awesomeness! I could totally move right in there.

Isn’t it fabulous? The lighting, the colours, the furniture, the fixtures, everything is amazing.

Next time I think I will just make myself at home and never leave.

I have been on the hunt for a new duvet cover for the past year and a half. Remember, I am indecisive? I walked past this bedroom display and fell in love. It is my dream bedroom! From the top, down to the very bottom. Those blue wardrobes are gorgeous. The light on the dresser is spectacular. And the bed linens, awesome.

I almost jumped right into the bed. Doesn’t it look inviting and comfortable?

Next time Ikea. Until next time. I will be better prepared and I may even make some amazing purchases!

Disclosure – This is not a sponsored post. I decided to write about my walk through the Ikea Winnipeg store because I absolutely enjoyed my time there and fell in love with their products.

Haha, so true! I just had a friend who bought both of his kids those loft beds with the desks and closets underneath. Apparently it took hours to set them both up.

I love the displays at Ikea, especially how they seem to be able to use every inch of space, yet it still looks great!

I LOVE strolling through IKEA. Love how they displays show everyday styles that can be easily created at home. My favorite section is the living room section! Oh and the kitchens!

I did not know you could have breakfast there! I know they serve meatballs and such but have never eaten there. Neat!
