While I was at Blissdom (I have a lot of Blissdom stories don’t I?) I bought myself a little trinket.

charm bracelet blissdom

How cute is this charm bracelet?

I love it. I tend not to wear a whole lot of jewelry. But every once in a while I like to take something shiny and pretty out of my jewelry box to dress myself up. It makes a girl feel, well pretty and girlie.

The neat thing about this charm bracelet is that I got to choose the charms I wanted to have on it. The vendor at the homemade market place had a ton of different charms to choose from. Here are my reason’s for choosing the charms I did.

Star – I have been told my whole life to reach for the stars and that nothing is impossible. I wanted this charm as a visual reminder of that.

Eiffel Tower – I grew up taking French classes throughout my elementary and high school years. As such, I have always dreamed of visiting the city of love, Paris, one day. My cousin did get the opportunity to go to Paris one year and she brought me back an Eiffel Tower key chain and a small watercolour print of the Tower and the area surrounding it. I cherished both gifts very much. I even had a pen pal who lived in France and we wrote letters back and forth for a few years. I thought it would be awesome to meet her one day. Sadly we lost touch as our high school careers ended. This charm was selected to remind me that someday I will get to Paris.

Laptop- The laptop charm represents my love for technology and now blogging. As a kid I used to dislike computers. They always seemed to freeze every time I used one. When I was a teen I was introduced to the World Wide Web and have not looked back. I started building and designing websites using only HTML coding in the late 90s and early 2000s. Then, I started making my own graphics too. Sadly, my skills are not where they used to be as I haven’t taken any formal training other than the classes I took in high school and a couple during my college stints. I also love playing with gadgets like tablets, smartphones, etc. Anything technology related I can get my hands on, I will. Sadly, my budget does not allow unlimited access.

Treble Clef – The mighty treble clef symbolizes my love for music. As a young kid I took accordion lessons (I sort of was forced but did not mind it at all). The accordion was a family instrument. My grandpa played and so did my dad. So, naturally I began to play and take lessons. Luckily in our small town we had a music teacher who knew how to play the accordion (what are the odds in such a small, remote place?). Two of my cousins also took accordion. When our music teacher held music recitals we would perform together along with another music student in town who took accordion lessons as well. We also played during church. My cousins moved onto piano lessons with a different teacher. I wanted to learn piano too but we did not have one. We did inherit an old organ from a family friend though. It was probably 20 to 40 years old. It did not have the many sound options or technology options organs at the time offered. I was doing it old school. Sometimes I wish I could still play either instrument. I probably could if I really applied myself. And I hope to one day learn to play the piano. That would be another dream come true. Another reason why I selected the treble clef is because I love listening and dancing to music. Music really uplifts my mood.

Flower – Now, I am unsure of what to say for this charm because originally I had picked out a charm that said LOVE on it as I believe everyone needs a little love their lives. Everyone needs to love others and be loved. But now I look at the flower and think of it as though I am going through a season of blossoming. I am on my path to becoming who I am truly meant to be. I know I am 34 years old and I should probably have a good grasp on who I am but some days I really wonder. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know my place in the world or what I should be doing. But I am getting there. I learning and growing. This is exactly what happens during a flower’s lifetime. They start to emerge out of the ground, growing taller and stronger while reaching for the sky and blossom into something beautiful and wonderful.

Do you own a charm bracelet? If yes, what charms are on it and why? (If not, what charms would you put on yours?)

I love the idea of a Charm bracelet and what each charm means. What a wonderful story and wonderful idea. Getting a charm bracelet is on my bucket list! I think I’d put a charm for each decade of life I’ve lived on this earth plus special ones that reminded me of special people in my life.

charm bracelets were all the rage when I was a teenager growing up. you got a new charm for your birthday, and for any other special occasion. People tended to collect charms of places they visited, I have a windmill from the Netherlands, a surfboard from Hawaii… nice to see them back in style…..glad I kept mine now…

My mom had one too and she got charms for her first date, her engagement and marriage, when we were born, etc. I think her best friend now has it (after she passed away she divided her jewelry for all of us). I do have a pandora bracelet but those charms can be so expensive. I liked this affordable option!

I love charm bracelets. My Mom still has hers that she made in high school, and it has an Eiffel Tower on it, too, because she scrimped and saved to pay for a class trip to Paris! As for me, I have a South Hill Designs locket bracelet with four charms: a Fleur-de-Lys for my Quebecois hubby, a paw for my cats, a tennis racket for my sport loving toddler and a rainbow for me… because, I’m colourful! I love meaningful jewelry.

I have a charm bracelet with all the wineries I visit with my girlfriends. When we specifically like a winery, we buy another charm (usually the wineries down in the Okanagan are apart of the “bead trail” so you can buy them).

My charm bracelet is actually the one piece of jewellery I wear faithfully. I love everything that it represents and tells about a person. I meet so many people on a daily basis and we are constantly talking about my pieces or if they have their own. Its a great way to represent yourself, your life and your children. Love your bracelet!

I love your bracelet and it’s wonderful how every charm represents something important to you. I need to get myself something like that too as I don’t wear much jewellery either. It’s beautiful!

It’s hard with charm bracelets because sometimes the charms seem to get in the way. This one is not as cumbersome as some other bracelets can get.
