This Post Is Brought To You By Whine, Cake, Chocolate and An Early Bedtime
Today is definitely a Monday.
She has appeared in our home in fine form.
From the moment I woke the kids up it seems as though someone was not listening or was whining about something I had asked them to do.
I asked Big Boy to clean his room and he retorted back, “but Dad said my room is clean enough and if one parent says it is good, then I don’t have to do.”
So my response was, “well if you don’t clean it up like I told you how, you lose your iPad for a week.”
He never did clean it up.
And guess who went on the laptop after school instead of his ipad? Apparently if you specify only the iPad, the other electronics are fair game.
Speaking of electronics, Little Man has a LeapPad 2 and I recently downloaded a few new games onto it for him to enjoy. I let him play for a little while today. He is loving the Planes math game that we got him (although it is a wee bit advanced for his age). After he had played for much longer than I should have let him I asked him to turn it off. He did not. He said he had to finish this last game. More time ticks by. I ask again… and again… and again…
About a half hour later he came over asking for more help with the math and I refused. I said “no, I am not helping. I asked you turn it off many times now.” After he through a wee little fit and tried shoving the game in my face again I took the game and turned it off. He stomped away to his room crying and he shouted, “you hurt my feelings!” Yeah well…
Then, there is the usual supper time battle with Little Man. He is four and was never really a picky eater until the last year or so. He is not much of a meat eater. He will eat fruits and most vegetables no problem. Sometimes he will try the rice or starchy side dish but the meat, no way! Unless it is ham. Ham is OK in his books. This kid won’t even eat pizza and it has all of the food groups (bread, cheese, veggies) except for the meat. Therefore, he will not touch it. So, tonight we had fajitas for supper. He tried to negotiate with me how much he had to eat off of his plate. Usually I divvy up the items on his plate and say you need to eat these three pieces of meat, this pile of rice, and almost always the vegetables are eaten. Tonight I was not in a negotiating mood. I told him outright you are eating your whole supper tonight. Oh the tantrum that followed…
After today I just want to climb into a huge bowl of chocolate and drown myself.
But over the last four days we have attended three birthday parties. (One of which we threw for our own kids.)
This means that I have had cake every day for four days (because we had leftover cake from our kid’s party). Oh and maybe some ice cream on the side. You would think I would be sugared out but no. I had a chocolate granola bar for a snack. I am thinking that I found those 2 lbs I lost earlier this week…
And I may have sent the children to bed early tonight too…
