Sweater Weather

The other day I came to a realization.

I do not own any sweaters.

(Well, I have a couple but none of them are “true” sweaters.)

The Monday before Halloween we got a big dump of snow. It was one of those snow falls that you just knew was going to stick around. And stuck it did. Some of it melted in the next few days but shortly after Halloween, another big snowfall came.

We are into the depths of winter up here in Northern Manitoba. I have broken out my winter jacket and my lovely winter boots that I bought for myself last year.

Aren’t they beautiful? I never really wore boots as a kid but I figured it was time to grow up. Being warm is a heck of a lot more important these days than looking cool. I happen to think these boots make me look cool for my age.

Anyway, back to my talk of sweaters. I cannot believe I barely own any sweaters. Especially now that winter has arrived. When I was a kid I used to live in sweaters (sadly even in the summer). But that was because I was trying to hide my chubby body. I thought sweaters helped but really they did not.

I do have a few cardigans in my closet and sweaters that you would think would be warm. However, those sweaters have short sleeves! How rude of them! Where did the long sleeves go? I think at one point I thought that I would get rid of my bulky sweaters and if I got cold I would just put a light jacket over top of my t-shirts and tank tops. Who has a crazy idea like that? This girl I guess.

You think I would attempt to solve this problem by purchasing a few sweaters but I won’t. There is just no budget available for that right now. With a certain Little Man’s birthday coming up, followed by Christmas, it is just not a priority right now.

But if anyone needs Christmas gift ideas for me… Just kidding. I much rather get a Chapters or iTunes gift card.

I have so many books on my to read list. I know I can go to the library and borrow them (as I usually would do, former librarians need to support libraries) but there are a few on my list that I would like to add to my home library.

And as I was writing this post this song came to mind…

I can’t find any *real* sweaters that I like. I’m struggling big time.

It is difficult. Plus, some are just not flattering on me.

You’re Canadian! How do you not own sweaters?!! Hee hee. I’m in southern Ontario so I guess it’s more common for us to not own them since our winters aren’t as vicious. I own a few sweaters and lots of cardigans and long sleeve t-shirts.
I absolutely adore those boots. They look so warm!

I know, I am a horrible Canadian! hehe! I should be banished… to Hawaii or somewhere warm. :)

The boots are absolutely awesome. Especially when you spend a wee bit of time in the hockey rink.

No sweaters in Canada?!?! You’re hardcore! This will perhaps inspire a sweater post of my own for #NaBloPoMo. Given my prior career, I have more sweaters and sweater knowledge than the average Jane.

I know… I should be kicked out of Canada. I have a few sweaters but none I can really lounge in.
