Home Sweet Home Spring Cleaning Giveaway

Some of my most fondest memories growing up were when my mom would do a big spring clean in our small little house. Both of my parents smoked in our house (yes, while my brother and I were also in the house). So, pretty much every year my mom would bring out a ladder, her bucket of soap and a few old rags and she would wash down the walls in the kitchen, living room and bathroom. She scrubbed and scrubbed for hours. I know I should do a deep spring clean of this house one day but it just seems overwhelming.

I also relished in the days where my mom had all of the windows and door windows open in our house. There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh air streaming in from the outside after being caged inside during a long and cold winter. I loved the smell of the new buds forming on the trees and the smell of freshly cut grass.

Out with the old and in with the new! It’s time to turn away from winter blues and take a fresh deep breath into spring. To make your transition into the new season a breeze, here are some quick tips with a must-have giveaway for the occasion.

Tip 1: Call in for extra troops

Fighting off greasy stains, tough mildew, and stubborn odours will require an additional set of hands – so make this a family affair and grab as many troops as you can! When it comes down to it, you’re not the only one living under the roof. I really need to start making chore charts for my kids and getting them more involved in the care and maintenance of our home. They do live in it after all too.

Tip 2: Take your time

Remember that while adrenaline may be rushing to get your house looking spotless, it’s wise to spread out a large project like this between a few days. The season is here to stay so no need to panic! The last thing you want is an injury to welcome you into spring. As I tend to get overwhelmed easily, planning the spring clean and dividing up the duties over a few days would make the chore seem less daunting.

Tip 3: Map it out

Organize, organize, organize! Work from the top down, inside to outside, and keep an agenda to prioritize. Allocating rooms to each person (or doing it one at a time by yourself) will also avoid unfinished tasks. Setting this up at the beginning will make the process so much quicker and more efficient.

Tip 4: Have fun

Turn on the radio, lay out a few snacks and don’t take it too seriously! Celebrate the season of greener grasses and sunny weathers (without the sweat and sunburns).

Your family’s living space deserves only the best – after all, where else can you unwind and call it your very own home sweet home?

Having moved to Canada a few years ago every room in the home has been cleaned and redecorated and this year we did the last room – that basically is the extent of my spring cleaning. Though the kitchen does get a good clean every few months

I am a bit of a clean freak when I get the cleaning mode,. Spring cleaning can mean painting or washing walls. Washing cupboards, and cleaning out closets. I wash windows, my biggest pet peeve of cleaning. I also wash and get ready spring clothes for my family. It feels so good when my spring cleaning is done because then outside I go to enjoy spring. Happy Spring!

Generally, with respect to cleaning, I just try and ignore it until the next Spring. My system has been working pretty well ;) My house is always neat though and I clean up as I go all day long. If I’m heading into one room, I always take something with me and then when I leave, same thing. We have a small house with a lot of occupants so otherwise it would look like a disaster.

I clean all the time and like to tackle small areas at a time to make it more attainable and so I don’t get swamped. With four kids I find I can really only clean an area when they are sleeping and it has to be 2-3 hour job. That being said I usually take everything out of where I am cleaning and then toss, organize, store as I go through it. I really am surprised that most of the stuff I kept in the dirty place I actually end up tossing when it comes time to clean it up:)

With 2 growing kids, spring cleaning is a must! I just finished the basement yesterday!:) I like to inspire myself by buying a few nice things for the space I’m about to clean out, like nice fragrances or throw pillows, or in this case I got new matching organizing baskets which made it easy to sort things into place as I purged. I have lots if spring cleaning left to do. My son’s room always poses the biggest challenge because he wants to keep everything!
