Celebrate Earth Day with Funkins Reusable Napkins

Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 every year since 1970.

People around the world celebrate Earth Day to help raise awareness of local and global environmental issues. Our Earth has gone through some drastic and detrimental changes throughout the years due to our poor choices.

To learn more about Earth Day, please visit the Earth Day Canada website. Make sure to teach your children about this very important day. Here are some Earth Day activities you can do with them.

Ever since I was a kid, I was a strong advocate for the environment. In grade school I was part of a club called Kids for Saving Earth. We received some information at our school about the club and decided to create our own local chapter. We met and discussed what positive actions we could take to help our environment. We picked up garbage around our community. We recycled. We encouraged others not to litter. It was a great group to be a part of. Sadly, a few of the kids lost interest and our group dwindled down to just myself and a friend.

To this day I am still an avid believer in taking care of our planet. We only have this one Earth and we need to make sure it is around for future generations.

This is one reason why we use Funkins in our house!

Funkins are fun, reusable napkins designed especially for kids.

Earth Day Funkins

These napkins come in a wide variety of adorable patterned fabrics. Just in time for Spring and Earth Day, Funkins has released a bunch of new fabric choices and they wanted me to share them with my readers.

Spring Funkins

Funkins help our planet by reducing the number of trees that are cut down to make paper napkins. Many people do not know that paper napkins can be recycled and most often they end up in our landfills. So, Funkins are a great alternative to using the paper products.

Schools are also thinking about our impact on the Earth and are now encouraging students to bring litter-less lunches to schools. Funkins make a great addition to your child’s lunch boxes.

We use our Funkins every day. The kids absolutely love them. I was glad to receive a few more as many of ours are well worn and stained now.

The neat thing about Funkins is that they can not only be used as a napkin but they can also be used as place mats. So, if you are out for a picnic, bring along your Funkins to decorate your picnic table! Typically, our kids have two Funkins each at their spot at the dinner table. One for a place mat and another to wipe their hands and faces.

To learn more about the company and Funkins’ creator Lisa, visit their website at www.myfunkins.com.

Funkins wants to give away a set of 3 reusable napkins to one of my lucky readers! To enter, please leave a comment below telling us how you try to take care of Mother Earth. To get one additional entry, please share this giveaway on the social media site of your choice (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) and leave the link in the comments below. This giveaway will end in a week on Sunday, April 28 at midnight and the winner will have 48 hours to respond to claim their prize. Good luck!

And now I leave you with this…

Every day is Earth Day!

We walk to school every day (even in -40!), I do laundry at night, we recycle, use reusable containers at school, turn off unneccessary lights.

Always use cotton shopping bags as we walk to do the shopping, recycle what we can, no electronics on standby mode, never replace anything until it’s unrepairable

We try to recycle as much as we can, use our own bags at the grocery store, compost for use in our garden.
    Cheers!
